Enhanced with a foreword by Joyce Appleby
Ably edited by Mark E. Yellin and enhanced with a foreword by Joyce Appleby, Douglass Adair's 1943 treatise The Intellectual Origins Of Jeffersonian Democracy: Republicanism, The Class Struggle, And The Virtuous Farmer offers contemporary readers a wealth of judicious prose and elegant insights into the classical and modern European heritage of American liberalism as reflecting in the establishment of an American democracy. Long out of print, this edition of The Intellectual Origins Of Jeffersonian Democracy is a very welcome addition to the reading lists for students of American intellectual and political history, as well as the principles inspiring and governing the founding of the American republic.

I could not put the book down!
This book is one of my favorite Wishbone books. It's Oakdale history month, and every one wants to help celebrate the event! Even the mysterious Carl Ottinger pitches in by allowing Pepper Pete's Pizza Parlor to display his treasured antique model railroad system. Then, suddenly the valuable steam engine vanishes! Mr. Ottinger spreads the word about Pepper Pete's lack of security. All the bad publicity could signal the end for Wishbone's fovorite pizza parlor!"What no more breadsticks or pepperoni?" Wishbone asks."Somebody has to do something!" Wishbone, Samantha Kepler, and their friends must crack the case before its to late for Pepper Pete's. However, they soon learn that the missing steam engine is only one piece in the large puzzle whose key lies in a missing golden dog... The book also has a very suprising ending. This book is a must for every Wishbone book collecter or someone who just want to read a good story.

Excellent Native American Romance
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. There is plenty of romance, history, and conflict for anyone who likes a great read. The characters came alive for me, and the incorporation of details on Cherokee customs added texture to the story.

Average review score:

Best book ever written about San Francisco
My father was a native of San Francisco. While a very young woman, he gave me "the best book every written about San Francisco." He'd had it for many years, and wanted to share it with me. It was called, "This Is San Francisco." The description of the City, wonderful accounts of famous streets and how their names originated, facinated me. I married, and cherished the book for years. Six months ago, my book was lost. Where, when, I do not know. However; it is gone. Yesterday, upon visiting the San Mateo Library on another matter, I ran the information about "This Is San Francisco" through the coumputer. I believed it to be out of print. To my delight, it had been reissued. I located the book; but did not check it out. I wish to order this book, so that I once again, own, as Dad said: " The best book every written about San Francisco.

The Utimate Treasure Hunt: Offering Hope to Children with Autism
Published in Paperback by Future Horizons (December, 1995)
Author: Adair N. Renning
Average review score:

Adoptive family's story-triumph over developm. difficulties
It's been a few years since I last read this wonderful book, but I still remember it as one which was very helpful to me after my overseas adoption of a handicapped child. At a time when many families would send the child back because of so many hard to handle disabilities, this family stuck it out and found the ultimate treasure. If your child struggles with developmental, physical, or eating disorders, this is a good book to read to help you realize there is hope in investing continuous love and hard work in your child. If you've adopted and been surprised by what you didn't realize you were getting, this book is a must have. Be prepared to cry and laugh.
